Goodman
Mental Health Awareness Training for Managers
The Objective
Goodman is a specialist global industrial property group. The UK team recognised the crucial role that managers play in creating, modelling and sustaining day to day practices that promote high levels of performance and wellbeing.
Goodman wanted to ensure that their managers felt knowledgeable and confident to proactively talk about mental health with their teams, and know how to support their own and other’s mental and emotional wellbeing.
Our Solution
We ran a full day training course for Goodman’s managers, delivered by Dr. B our Head of Mental Health, a leading medical doctor with a background in psychiatry and public health.
The training incorporated a blend of:
Education: to demystify what is meant by mental health, why people become unwell and the warning signs.
Interaction: to break down misconceptions and eradicate stigma.
Practical skills: to address mental health and illness, including how to have conversations successfully with people who may be unwell or returning to work, plus strategies to support their own and others’ mental and emotional wellbeing.
The Results
Knowledge of mental health/illness
44% of managers said that their knowledge was high or very high post-training, compared to just 18% pre-training.Confidence in addressing mental health related matters in the workplace
Pre training 36% of managers said their confidence was low or very low. Post training this was 0%.How comfortable managers feel to deal with challenging situations or conversations at work
26% reported uplift in feeling able to deal with challenges. How well managers take care of their own wellbeing

The Results
