When it comes to thinking about how to create a culture at work where colleagues are motivated and excited by what they are doing, dealing with or managing stress is just the beginning. Not feeling over worked and undervalued will without doubt remedy some of the causes of stress and distress in the workplace. Goals and targets are essential but sound working practices also need to take care of the deeper aspects of what makes us human.

There are some key principles that underpin our mutual wellbeing and fulfilment. These principles build on what we share rather than on our differences. Pivotal among them are intangibles such as trust, purpose and meaning, a sense of belonging and of being seen and appreciated. The more of these foundations that in place, the better people get through tough times. They also adapt to change more readily and most important, are less likely to become unwell, want to change job or ‘check out’ in terms of their effort.

In this workshop we examine the critical role of inter-personal trust and why it matters for working well together. We explore what being trustworthy means, and how we are wired to spot its presence and absence. Participants will learn the underpinning neurobiology and why trust promotes wellbeing and reduces stress, and a quick and easy way to assess levels of trust at work.

The workshop discusses the key factors that contribute to building trust at the wider level, and asks participants to consider “how can I take responsibility for trustworthiness in the world around me?”.
