A team or business’s ability to adapt, learn and grow in the face of change and challenge, its resilience, depends on how well managers and leaders are equipped to respond to such questions and effectively communicate the answers.

The session is designed to support Managers and Leaders with the knowledge and practical strategies to grow resilient, energised and motivated teams.

As our understanding of the science of how people behave in the face of adversity has evolved, so too has the concept of resilience in the context of work. No longer is it seen as a fixed asset one person has more or less of, but as a variable capacity that depends on circumstance and the type of challenge. Mostly we’ve learned that the qualities that make us resilient depend on how we are seen and treated by those around us, our inter-dependence.

The good news is that we all have what it takes. When we understand some basic aspects of our neurobiology, of the importance of some fundamental “stabilisers”, such as trust, appreciation and psychological safety, we foster resilience in ourselves as managers and leaders, and in those we work with, in a culture of resilience.

In this interactive 90 minute workshop we will explore:

  • What our teams need to function well and the value of our differences

  • A simple neurobiological model to understand resilience

  • Maintaining and developing the main team ‘stabilisers’ of trust, purpose and appreciation

  • Psychological safety at work, what it is and how to build it

  • Signs to look out for that a colleague may need extra or different support

  • Plenty of practical tools to help you foster a culture of resilience in your work environment.
