Better Sleep

A good night’s sleep is one of the basic pillars of our physical, mental and emotional health. Mood, thinking, performance, communication and resistance to infection are some of the areas affected by restless, broken or lack of sleep. But good sleep for many can be elusive... and sometimes impossible.

Overview

Suitable for all staff

This workshop takes a look at how we can promote better sleep and when we just can't get it, how to rest and relax to compensate.

The workshop considers environmental factors and the kinds of behaviours that can promote better sleep, including caffeine intake, regular movement throughout the day, sunlight, screen time and proactively choosing to destress.

We share a pre-bedtime routine to help you wind down and prepare for rest, including practical exercises to reduce physical tension and strategies to unwind the mind.

The workshop also shares the tools to use when sleep is disrupted, including mantras, physical relaxation techniques and breathing techniques. And finally we look at what to do in the aftermath of poor sleep in order to reduce further stress and anxiety.
