Grief: Living with and Beyond Loss
Grief is a natural response to any significant loss and is something everyone is likely to experience at some point in their lives. Grief is not just one feeling, it is a reaction that can affect our emotions, behaviours and physical wellbeing. Coping with the loss of someone or something that you love is widely recognised as one of life’s biggest challenges.
Overview
This interactive session will take a very sensitive look at grief, explaining what it is, how it affects people and why each of us will experience it differently. It will also help to tackle the myths and misconceptions around grief.
Whilst grief is a universal experience, it is also highly individual with each person’s experience being influenced by a range of factors. For some, it can feel like moving through a number of distinct stages, for others it will be much more unpredictable and even chaotic. However it is experienced, there are things that can help us navigate the grief journey in a way that makes it is as manageable as possible.
Crucially the session will offer a range of ideas to manage the intense feelings that often accompany grief as well as how to effectively and compassionately support those around us who are navigating through their own grief journey.
