Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome is a mind trap that leaves you with an intense feeling of self-doubt. It’s when despite evidence that you are successful, you still fear that you are going to be caught out as not good enough. Despite how little this is spoken about in professional circles, research has found 70% of successful people feel like this at some point.

Overview

Suitable for all staff

This session explores what the imposter syndrome is, normalising and validating the experience, helping participants understand how it operates and empowering them with the skills to overcome it.

We explore the underlying beliefs that get in our way and learn how to form new constructive patterns of beliefs and behaviour. Strategies include growth mindset, helping us make peace with imperfection, and developing the skills of self-forgiveness and self-compassion, the antidotes to judgement and critical self talk.

As a chartered psychologist and yoga teacher, Suzy draws on a toolkit that encompasses head, heart and body, and the practices in this workshop samples all these modalities - cognitive tools, breathing exercises and relaxation practices.
