Recovery from Long Covid

As we all know, COVID-19 had enormous effects on individuals, families, communities and society in general. From lockdowns, social distancing and mask wearing to home working and increased dependence on the internet, no one emerged unaffected. Nonetheless, it is those who have been infected who may have had heir lives tuned upside down.

Overview

Suitable for all staff

As of 2021 more than 1.5 million Britons reported experiencing “Long COVID”, a collection of virus symptoms that persist over 12 weeks and can be devastating for those experiencing them. Symptoms can include fatigue, breathlessness, pain, cardiac problems, gastric problems, sleep difficulties and many others. These problems interfere with getting back to our usual life tasks and for many can lead to anxiety or depression due the uncertainty of recovery and the reduced quality of life.

In this workshop, delivered by a leading Clinical Health Psychologist, we will guide you through the variety of ways we can respond to these changes to optimise our recovery and cope with the psychological impact of Long COVID.

Whether for yourself or a loved one, the workshop will provide you with evidence-based strategies designed to guide you through the psychological recovery as well as the physical one.

The facilitator has worked for 12 years within the NHS supporting people with serious health conditions ranging from persistent pain to cardiac conditions, diabetes, neurological conditions, cancer and other life-limiting health problems. This experience is coupled with extensive research they have carried out in the role of psychological processes in health and wellbeing and training the next generation of Clinical Psychologists.
