Eating Well on a Budget

Financial pressure has a direct impact on mental wellbeing and performance, and also our physical health.

Food spend is a major outlay, it can be tempting to be lured by promotional offers on less than healthy foods in order to stay within budget, or cut back on quality. Long term this can have negative consequences for our health. It’s important to know how we can maintain a healthy and balanced diet for ourselves and our family, when budgets are stretched.

Overview

Suitable for all staff

In this workshop we take a realistic and pragmatic look at how we can eat well on a budget.

We explore healthy supermarket swaps, replacing pricier items with healthy alternatives and look at the healthiest foods for under £1.

We share practical family meal ideas and recipes for under a tenner, and also identify the foods that are worth the investment in terms of their health benefits.

The workshop explains how to read your food labels, explaining the things to look for and look out for on some of those promotional convenience foods.

We also share ideas for batch cooking, enabling you to plan ahead and save money. Finally the workshop explains how to eat seasonally for your health and wallet.
