Hormones- from Puberty to Menopause
Women's bodies go through intense change throughout their lives. Hormonal fluctuations during teenage years, pregnancy and menopause have a profound effect on health and wellbeing and yet are rarely discussed. There's often conflicting information on how to manage changes in the body and how women can help themselves during these changes.
Overview
Suitable for all staff
This workshop provides a science backed guide to the role of hormones throughout a female’s life. Delivered by a leading medical doctor and female health expert the workshop firstly provides an introduction to hormones, looking at the menstrual cycle and explaining how the female body works.
The workshop then moves on to look more closely at menstrual health, looking at heavy, painful, irregular or absent periods and also PMS and PMDD. We also explain the signs and symptoms of endometriosis, PCOS and fibroids. The workshop explores the benefits of various different forms of contraception and also takes a look at the impact of menstrual health at work.
Next the workshop focuses on fertility, looking at some of the myths and scares and sharing the real evidence on optimising fertility. We also take a look at fertility treatment and the workplace in terms of the impact this has.
Finally the workshop moves onto perimenopause and menopause, explaining the symptoms and managing these both with and without HRT. We also consider the impact of menopause at work and considerations to make.
