This workshop, delivered by a suicide prevention expert, is designed to address several key aspects related to suicide prevention and mental health.

The primary purpose of the workshop is to equip participants with skills and knowledge that help to support individuals going through a suicidal crisis, providing a basic understanding of factors leading to suicidal thoughts.

The workshop aims to reduce the stigma concerning suicide, challenging common misconceptions.

The workshop explores:

  • Why is suicide more prevalent in men and boys?

  • What are the causes of crisis and how does that differ for men and boys?

  • A discussion on the reality of the suicidal state and the problem-solving mind

  • How to deal with the different mental states that present in suicidal ideation

  • How to have conversations with someone you feel concerned about

  • Looking after each other

  • Self-soothing / grounding

The workshop addresses the specific needs of men, who are recognised as an at-risk group in the UK's National Suicide Prevention Policy, while also understanding that male suicide affects all genders.
